TELL THE TIME WITHOUT PICKING UP YOUR PHONE
Checking the time on your phone costs you eleven minutes, because you never only check the time. Tempo puts the hour on the desk in large flip digits on a single-foot stand, so a glance is just a glance. The mechanism turns over with a soft mechanical sound rather than a tick, which is oddly good company in a quiet room. It is the most deliberately analogue object in this catalogue and the one that most reliably protects your attention.
WHY THIS EARNS ITS PLACE ON YOUR DESK
- Puts the time on the desk — so checking it costs a glance rather than an unlock and eleven lost minutes.
- Turns the digits on a flip mechanism — producing a soft mechanical sound instead of a hard tick.
- Times each mechanism by hand — so the digits turn cleanly instead of sticking between hours.
- Stands on a single slim foot — taking up barely more desk than the display itself.
- Reads clearly across a room — with digits sized to be legible from a doorway.
